Why basketball + playground beats a bare school yard

School Orliks are fine after 16:00, but parents with mixed ages need a hoop next to a swing set, toilets when they exist, and shade for the toddler who is not playing 3-on-3. Kraków’s big greens — especially Park Jordana and Park Lotników — already combine courts with real plac zabaw. The rest of this list spreads courts across west, south, east, and Nowa Huta so you are not always fighting for the same Jordana asphalt on Saturday.

1) Park Jordana — the classic: outdoor basketball, water play in summer, toilets on Reymonta/Ingardena, cafés. 2–3) Park Lotników Polskich — Smoczy Skwer for climbers and Samoloty for fenced toddlers; courts sit in the same east-side park belt. 4) Park Decjusza — Wola Justowska shade and outdoor courts when you want quieter than Błonia. 5) Park Solvay — south Kraków multi-use courts without Old Town crowds. 6) Park Miejski Bagry — lake loop plus sports for a longer outing. 7) Park Krowoderski — neighbourhood hoop after school in Prądnik Biały. 8) Park Dąbie — Grzegórzki lawns and basketball between the river and the stadium district. 9) Park Tysiąclecia — Mistrzejowice space to run and shoot. 10) Park Czyżyny — east courts that pair with a Lotników afternoon. Parent tips

  • Park Jordana courts bake at midday — go early or after 17:00 in July.
  • Bring a size 5 or 6 ball; park storage is wishful thinking.
  • Log court open/closed and net status so the next family is not guessing.
  • After Lotników basketball, check the fountain toilet door before you promise “just five more minutes.”
