Why football + playground beats a bare school yard

Rome’s villas are built for wandering — and for a pickup kick when the group needs to move. Villa Pamphili and Centocelle give you space; Borghese and Torlonia keep you closer to gelato and playgrounds. This shortlist spreads stops across north, west, east, and the Appia belt so you are not always fighting for the same Borghese lawn.

The ten parks

How to use this on ParkConnect

Open the map, search Rome, and tap each card to jump to the pin. Filter Sport → Football when you are already in town. If a court or table is missing or wrong on OSM, use Add plac zabaw / Tag here and set Sport → Football to Yes after you play. Pair a sports stop with a nearby playground so mixed ages stay happy. Log the exact pin name, not a vague “Rome park.”

Parent tips

  • Villa Pamphili is huge — pick a meeting pine before you kick off.

  • Bring water; villa fountains are not always drinkable.

  • Log which clearing you used — “Villa Ada” alone is too vague.

  • Caffarella and Acquedotti are best with sturdy shoes after rain.
